Mike I'm sure someone will have more information, but I thought that all the
sleeves for the N series were thin cast iron.

Removal is done with a sharp chissel and a piece at a time ???

Surely more and better information will come forth.

Subject: [AT] No ads from the 12/24 Lancaster Farming

I guess the folks at Lancaster Farming must have taken some time off, as
there are no ads this week.

I am very thankful for a lot of things this Holiday season, and one of
them is not getting the snow and ice that seems to have made things
pretty tough for the middle of the US. We on the East Coast are due for
some light snow showers this afternoon and tomorrow - just enough to
cover the ground and look pretty. So I can work on my 2N and let the
Ford 860 and Farmall 560 rest for a few more days. The 2N needs a set of
3.367" OD sleeves and pistons, but I haven't had any luck finding them,
in spite of several ads and ATIS messages claiming they are available...

And, of course, there is the problem of removing the old ones. It
appears that someone replaced the original steel sleeves with oversize
cast iron sleeves, and the darn things don't want to come out. I have my
sleeve puller (with a custom made follower) on No.1 and cinched up
tight, but nothing moves. My next step will be to try to heat up the
block and then throw some dry ice into the bore, in the hopes of
shrinking it enough to break loose. Any other thoughts?

Best wishes for the Holidays to all!

Mike
