Cecil, I was born a generation too late to get in on the horse and cutter
days but certainly have memories of my parents stories of those days. Here
they were referred to as "closed in cutters" , no doubt a result of our cold
winters. Many had a small stove installed for heat. I think there is the
remains of one in the bush on my Uncle's farm. How times and methods of
travel  have changed in just half a century!
I don't suppose Robert Frost was thinking of one of these closed in cutters
when he wrote "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"?
