[AJD] Remote hydraulic cylinder relief Valve ????

Bus Driver:

Thanks for the info. I sure don't recall having these valves on any
equipment on the farm in the 40's or 50's. I spent a long time in bed last
night w/o being able to get to sleep and a thought drifted through my foggy
mind. Could these valves be used to release the pressure on the quick
disconnect couplers so that they are easier to connect together? I have
occasionally had trouble getting them connected due to pressure on the check
valves.

Remote cylinders controlled by a valve that seals well, or by the
quick-disconnect couplings, can experience an incredible range of pressures
with varying temperatures. Perhaps the implement will be stored in "The Big
Shed" (outdoors) until it is used next season. While in direct Sun,
sustained presssures in excess of 10K PSI have been measured in closed
hydraulic systems. Perhaps JD had some other purpose in mind for the relief
valve, but this might be be one of the reasons for the valve.
