[AT] Locking a differential

I have two CA Allischalmers tractors. One I use for parts and the other I 
use for tractoring. I want to take the one I have been using for parts and 
make a crawler out of it.If I could lock the differential, I could add 
another hand clutch in the left hand axle(already has one in the right hand 
axle and use the hand clutches for steering clutches. Thought about putting 
20 inch or smaller (this will reduce the speed alsotruck tires on the back 
for drive "sprockets"and using maybe some old tractor tires with the side 
walls cut off for rubber tracks.Remove the front axle, steering gear, etc. 
Make a straight front axle with 15 inch wheels and tires for front of the 
tracks, mount it about where the bell housing is bolted to the engine block. 
I don't have everything in my mind yet. If I can find a way to defeat the 
differential, I think I will build this machine. It would make a neat ATV.

I am sure there is a way to defeat the differential, perhaps by a
strategically placed bolt or by doing a bit of welding.

The tractor would move forward in a straight line or in reverse in a
straight  line without placing undure stress on the drive line and tires.
If you should want to turn then one of  tires would have to skid or
mechanically break some of the internall compontents.

The mechanical arrangement on the newer tractors for locking the
differential is fairly simple, but adding something reversibel to disable
the differential action might be complicated.

What do you have in mind as a reason for locking things up ?

Is there a way to lock the differential on a CA Allis-Chalmers tractor? I
mean a permenant lock so both axles will turn all the time. I have looked at
the insides of a differential before , but didn't try to figure out a way to
lock one up. Didn't have a idea like I have an idea like I am having now at
the time.
