[Farmall] Flames!

I could use some help adjusting my carb on our 1950 "M" that has a 400 engine in it!
 
Recently, when we start it up it cranks real slow (still 6 volt), but when it finally "fires" it really BANGS/backfires with a brief flame at the top of the exhaust stack.  
For the first few seconds after it starts up, it sounds like a diesel engine that was started with either.  Theres no smoke, but it run's real rough until it warm up.
 
How do I adjust the richness of the carb?  If that is what the problem is?
