Maybe what we called "distillate" here in Canada. It was a low cost fuel,
cheaper than gas and worked well as I have heard. My Dad had a John Deere D
that he ran on distillate for years. Now that you mention it I think the
Deere did have a small gas tank attached to the back of the main tank with
gas for starting and then it would be switched over to distillate.
The JD AR I have now is strictly a gas burning engine. Lately it has joined
the ranks of my "pull start" tractors. In fact I could not even start it by
pulling a half mile last weekend so we rolled it into the work shop where I
can do a little checking over and hopefully get it back running on all two
cylinders.
