Bill:

I agree with your assessment of how easy it is to find and buy NOS and used
parts on eBay. I have become a big eBay fan. Haven't been done in very often
either. The key is being patient. I have even been known to buy something I
might need even though I really don't know for sure, if the price is right.
It's nice to have a few extra parts around for a rainy day. I have even
re-sold stuff on eBay when I realized it was never going to be used.
Typically do a little better job on the pictures and the description the
second go around and usually come out ok. It's is a lot easier than
preparing for, loading and traveling to a swap meet. I've not been to happy
recently with my swap meet sales. Probably because I'm getting down to the
dregs. :-)

I was originally born and raised in NW Iowa on a farm in a small community
in Sioux County. About 40 miles North of Sioux City, IA and about 16 miles
East of the SD border along US Highway 75. So a trip to Beresford, SD is a
short trip straight East about 25 miles. Still prefer to see the stuff in
person rather than via a picture. There is also a JD dealer in Beresford
that usually has a few gems in their lot to make the trip interesting.

Seems I do remember a vendor from Beresford.

My time was a little limited and I had not particular agenda other than the
ATIS gathering at noon, so I wandered somewhat aimlessly and picked up on a
few opportunistic and small purchases and did a lot of price comparison.

I've found eBay to be such an efficient way to locate parts if one has a
little patience to wait, most of my project needs seem to get addressed
through that media now. It's also a great way to peddle excess inventory.

I forget, where is your home town? My family settled in NW Iowa, Battle
Creek area. Still have family in the area, although it looks like mine may
be the last generation.
