[AT] Holiday Charity Auction Results

A friend of mine was on a disaster team for an insurance company in the
70's. He was frequently sent to the site of tornado strikes, etc. He told
me of one place he went out in the mid west where a town had been leveled.
He said that in the middle of downtown the Red Cross was set up on a corner
selling candy bars, cold sandwiches and soft drinks. Diagaonally across the
street the Salvation Army was giving away soup, sandwiches and hot coffee.

With that said the Red Cross provides a wonderful and invaluable service
with their blood bank. EVERY hospital in the country ( I guess with minor
exceptions) depends on them for the blood they use every day. They have to
pay for it but at least it is there.
