Hi Grant;   I don't know if  using lacquer to paint thew inside of a gas 
tank would be feaseable.  If you have your tank opened up, I'd  use a 
good tank sealer made for the purpose.  I have had good luck with those 
in the past.  Eastwood and others make the kind to "slosh" around and if 
you have the trank open and really clean they should work very well.   
Just an opinion-- what do others think?    Carl in VT
