An excellent caution.  I prefer multiple hard drives and then virtual 
partitioning to create whatever partitions seem appropriate.  I have two 
computers with RAID capability but have found the RAID mirroring to be less 
stable than expected.  Backing up critical data on the second physical 
drive has proven beneficial a time or two!
