I’ve never owned or done M brakes. Dubuque manufactured tractors sometimes can be quite different from Waterloo built tractors. So I hesitate to talk about my experiences with them. They can be a real PITA if they have rusted shafts. If stuck I use an acetylene torch to get them loose. Patience, a vice , a big pipe wrench, a big hammer and heat in some combination will break things loose.

Dean VP

Apache Junction, AZ

From: AT <at-bounces@lists.antique-tractor.com> On Behalf Of Howard Fleming
Sent: Saturday, March 11, 2023 8:08 PM
To: at@lists.antique-tractor.com
Subject: [AT] Brake job on a John Deere M, any pointers?

I have a John Deere M that will finally be repairing the brakes on shortly.

Any pointers or things to look at specific to this tractor I should keep an eye out for?
