<p>I have to remove the fittings that are somewhat of a bulkhead
connector in the firewall. the nut that holds them in is on the
passenger side. Like all vehicles, there is no way to easily get
to the area. Removal of the dash is a 4 hour job at least, and it
is mostly 25yr old plastic. I have enough trouble with the
plastic being broken at nearly every joint due to the rough roads
here. If I did not have a newly rebuilt engine and transmission,
I would say it should be scrapped. It is so ridiculous that a
good truck is unusable due to a dash that is designed for 3
years... I learned that the former county that had it was selling
their dump trucks at 80K miles due to the dash problems. This was
one of their dump trucks that was used one month then the dump bed
was removed and the mechanic bed was installed. It had very good
care taken of it, but I have driven it about 1500 mles on these
terrible roads with a lightweight gooseneck hitch and pintle
drawbar, and it just has fallen apart. I have access to some old
Coca Cola trucks like it for parts, but removing and replacing the
dash with that nearly 2 inch bundle of wiring is a real mess.. <br>

<div>Seems to me that there is a tool for easily disconnecting
them, remember seeing them somewhere. Maybe it was at Harbor
Freight or maybe Autozone. For the ones that I use on our
reverse osmosis system, I’ve learned to use a small screwdriver
to make the disconnection, but them I have plenty of room to do
so.</div>

ordered. Those quick connect fittings are a pain in the
butt... Does anyone have any experience with these.. Maybe
Steve W..??? The factory service manual is $300+, and I
have tried to download 2 times today and it failed. I will
wait until tonight after midnight to download...<br>
