    <p>MTZ/Belarus put a short cable to release the front hood latch on
      the side of my new 1220.4  The cable is about 1ft long, but it got
      moisture on the first snowfall 2 years ago, and I ended up tearing
      it out to get the hood up to jump the battery when the solid state
      charger went bad.  It has a rubber bungee cord for a hood latch
      now.  It works just fine too.   Ice doesn't bother it one bit...
      If they wanted as much for the hood latch as they did for the
      front headlights ($275) I don't need it...  I only needed the
      plastic covers for the headlights.   The lights were not LED
      either...The covers blew off in one of our storms....<br>

      Well nothing is ever easy, also noticed at some point I broke off
      the hood latch release which Mahindra foolishly located low on the
      frame behind the front tire where it can catch on all sorts of
      things.  This will be the second time I've had to replace this. I
      should look for a more permanent fix.<br>

        Thank you for all the advice regarding Teflon tape. This is on a
        5 year old Mahindra tractor, I've been impressed with the
        machine in general, but not the hoses or other rubber parts. I
        will probably try what Tom suggested and use a little, but stay
        well back from where it could migrate into the system. If that
        fails, I'll need to have a new hose made.<br>

        PS - a friend of mine owns a heating and cooling business, and
        he commonly uses both tape, then paste on all his gas
        connections.<br>

            rolls of teflon tape with a new loader.  Wealways used
            paste, or the stick which was a lot easier to use.   I used
            a lot of Rectorseal in the day.  Here lately I bought a lot
            of fittings from Discount Hyd hose.com, ant the fittings
            would leak no matter how much teflon paste or type of paste,
            or tight I got the fitting.  I even used an impact wrench
            and a vise to tighten the fittings on the hose..  So, I got
            to using the tape and stopped having leaks.   A good friend
            worked 10 years for a large Farm Eq dealer and he told me
            thay had to start using teflon tape on all NPT fittings.  <br>

              told a new hire to NEVER use tape on a hyd. fitting . If
              you did and I found out , you were FIRED on the spot . A
              person would be surprised at what one little piece can
              cost a business or customer  in the long run . </div>
