I've had good luck getting shafts out of castings by using baling wire as the anode and wrapping it tightly around the casting over 3M Scotch-Brite pads as insulation.</div><div>Attach the negative lead of a battery charger to the shaft and the positive to the baling wire. <p>Apple Cider Vinegar makes a good rust remover also. It will free
up bolts. They get real clean when you remove them. Usually look
black like they were blued..<br>

left them in a couple of days and it worked perfectly except
it did remove most of the paint too. I lubed the splash holes
for the shafts and the pedal shafts and the brakes worked
fine. I highly recommend it.</div>
