<p class="MsoNormal">Personally I wouldn’t bother with Windows
8. It had some quirks and was not well received for the most
part (and end of support will be looming). Windows 10 is
surprisingly efficient in terms of hardware requirements given
the bloat that was coming out of Microsoft for a while.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Linux is an alternative as well. I’ve
played with a few and like what I’ve seen. I’m a Mac guy and
work in IT. So what I like and is acceptable to me will be
different than the average user. I look at it like, “what
could I give to my parents to use….”. Linux wouldn’t be my
first choice….. But if you like to dabble and are somewhat
tech savvy it could be a very good and inexpensive
alternative.<o:p></o:p></p>

date not too far in the future to stop issuing security
updates for Win 7. I have a laptop that needs a keyboard
replacement that is being used with an external keyboard
that is on Win 7. It may be upgradeable to 8.<o:p></o:p></p>

browsers is that they have quit supporting any version of
Windows older than Windows7. Both of my laptops are running
older versions of Windows, one on XP SP3 and the other on
