That's a real thing, a concept explored by GM with

giant engineering experiment that I found brilliant. But
a whole bunch of environmentalists who didn't grasp that

That trip range does not take into account running
the air conditioner, heater, defroster, Wipers and
lights.... My wife & I bought some Dewalt
electric heated coats on sale a couple of years ago.
They were just barely more than the regular price of a
battery and included a 12 and 115 volt charger and an
adapter for USB to charge your phone. They sold out
along the east Coast for the folks using them to
commute and could not keep warm in the Chevy Volt and
Toyota Prius when running lights heater defroster and
wipers in snow while commuting to work..
When that cost per mile is figured in does it take
into consideration the battery life and the
replacement cost. I talked to a Prius owner who had a
2 yr old one on the original battery and was looking
to trade it in for a new one as the battery cost was a
small fortune...
On another note, my Polaris Ranger 1000cc with EFI is
the hardest thing on the place to start when the temp
is under 45deg. After the dealer tuning it up and
changing oil, it still is the hardest thing to start
on the planet... I bought a couple of plugs this
afternoon to make sure the dealer changed them....
I wish I had bought a Kubota Diesel with A/C. The
more I deal with gasoline engines the more I want to
convert them to propane or diesel. I'm thinking
seriously of adapting my "new" skid steer to propane.
It has a VG4d Wisconsin. I have an air cooled heat
exchanger for up to 60hp. The tank would add
counterbalance weight.
