Sounds like the Autumn Olive that I have here in southwest
Michigan. 40 years ago my grandpa planted a row of them at his
house for decoration. Now it is my house and they are getting out
of control faster than I can keep them trimmed.

Anyone know what plant that that grows in Michigan that has rose
like
thorns and light gray bark. The thorns will tear you to shreds. I
have a
surprise for them this year, I bought a Stihl with one of those
circular
saw blades on it. I have a lot to clear though.
