<p>Oklahoma has been pretty much the same way since i quit raining
in July. 2nd Wettest spring on record then driest July on
record. Now we get this gulf moisture boiling up from the south
and then it gets to over 100 by 1pm each day. At 9pm it is still
over 90 deg. At 7am it is already 85deg with 70% humidity. I can
handle it until about 10:30 am then have to go hide from the
heat. Heat index yesterday was 116deg. With my bad back and
knees, I have to have something to get around on now. An hour of
riding in the tractors gives me at least 3 hours of pain in the
bad knee. It takes a long time to catch up on sleep with the
pain.. Now I know what my Dad went through with his knee. The
operation is what killed him... <br>

<p>Oh well, maybe by Halloween I can stand the weather.. <br>

It has been said that Maurice Finlkle (the owner) is quitting
and rumors are plentiful. Maurice is older than I am and is
also busy with other stuff. I used to chat with him at the
business and at various restaurants we both eat at but I've
not seen him lately. I hope he is OK. He is a great asset to
this community.</div>

<div>In addition to the museum at his house he has a warehouse
full of old pianos and a reputation of helping those that want
to learn to play be able to have a piano to learn on. I don't
go to town parades these days but for many years he has been
in them playing a steam calliope mounted in what resembles a
circus wagon.</div>

<div>Dang, I sure don't need these heavy down pours of rain
every few hours. The gypsy wagon may get to Portland with a
blue tarp roof... :-) We do need more rain but just not
today.<br>

<div>We got the liability insurance for the golf cart handled
(only $15.49 for a year) and we found the papers for handicap
use of it. We mostly use it around the farm when working on
horse fences and it stays loaded with electric fence supplies,
a post driver,, a shovel and, and, and... Diana got all of
that stuff unloaded. I'm afraid to ask her where she put it
all.</div>
<div>I haven't even had a chance to look at the wiring on the
trailer... I guess I can find a couple of lanterns or duct
tape a couple of flashlights on the back corner...</div>

they decided to re-plumb my dicky ticker and has
weathered kind of badly. Diana has started painting it
but probably won't get it all done. High heat and high
humuggity gets tough on old folks and we have had
plenty of that. The tires had both surrendered and I'm
changing those. The paint on the wheels was looking
like alligator hide and I've cleaned those up a bit.
I still need to replace a section of roof.</div>
<div>I got the Cub started about a week ago but haven't
had time to get to it to make sure it starts easy. It
has been parked for some time. I may have to put a
horse lead rope on it and just pull it around behind
me. :-)</div>

The main entrance to the camping area is 24/7 and
manned/watched by folks. If you bring an exhibit
there is only a $10 charge for camping. Not sure how
much it is without an exhibit. Bring a corn sheller
or any old farm item for display and save some money.<br>

When you come in the campground entrance you will be
staring at a white building. Go left and then take the
right immediately past the building. Follow that
road all the way until it starts to curve by a creek.
ATIS camping is right there on the left at that
curve. <br>

I don’t know how late is “late”. But if you make it
before 11pm at least some of us will still be up. We
can show you where to park, etc.<br>
