I have a friend that inherited an early Kubota, one of the
smaller ones. He had an old JD that he was using to pull a 6'
shredder (AKA bush hog or rotary mower) and it was on it's last
leg. The Kubota developed some kind of a problem and went to a
dealer in Waco for repairs. After waiting several months, they
called him and told him it was a lost cause because parts were no
longer available. They gave him a good trade in on a new Kubota
and he jumped on that. The new tractor came with a shredder and
loader so he sold me his 3 year old 6" mower for a song. I'm still
using it 7 years later. Oh, I cannot remember what the problem was
with the old Kubota. If anyone cares, I can ask.

I may own one of those orange things one day, but it won't be a
very old one. We got suckered into working on one a few years
back that was 25-30 years old. Local dealer support sucked. Had
to get parts from the northeast. Called every phone number I
could find until I got in touch with an older factory service
tech.---nobody new what head gasket to sell us. We kept getting
the run around about possible "gray market" tractors. The parts
guys were groaning just as soon as we gave them the model
number. If its old, I'll take IH or Deere any day over orange.

I can remember driving by a Kubota dealership for the first time in 1970 on the way to take a military physical. The tractors sitting on that lot in 1970 would now be 49 years old.
