<p>I have an old Monkey Wards one my uncle bought new in about
1920. It just has an oversized hole in the inside pipe. We had
it apart to shorten it up for a 10 ft bed about 30 years ago. I
think the inside pipe had 3/4 holes and the outside had 1/2 that
translates to a lot of movement when you get 4ft out as the
spindles or wheels would be....</p>

tight on each end and the Reach tube twists as required. For

, so I had a chance to try to separate the Haywagon.
Chained the rear to a tree and pulled. Even with
penetrant soaking for a few days after cutting a groove
in the tube, a bobcat could not pull that thing apart.
So I tried twisting by picking up one front tire with
the bobcat bucket and it did create a twist. So I set it
back down and pushed to twist it back. Try pulling again
and it still wouldn't separate. So I picked up the
other front tire and got it to twist. Set it back down.
This time it pulled apart ever so slowly but it finally
came.<br>

other method and went straight to Cecil's solution of
cutting a slot in the tube. After heating grooving,
soaking, twisting it still took a bobcat to pull it
apart. I think that thing was close to rust welding
itself.<br>

to be careful not to weld the innertube to the outer
tube :-). I'm afraid to weld it without the inner tube
in place because if I get some slag/welding material
below the groove i will have a hard time grinding it
out so that the innertube can slide in.<br>
