Wish I could help. I’ve never owned or done M brakes. Dubuque manufactured tractors sometimes can be quite different from Waterloo built tractors. So I hesitate to talk about my experiences with them. They can be a real PITA if they have rusted shafts. If stuck I use an acetylene torch to get them loose. Patience, a vice , a big pipe wrench, a big hammer and heat in some combination will break things loose.

I have a John Deere M that will finally be repairing the brakes on shortly.

Any pointers or things to look at specific to this tractor I should keep an eye out for? I do have the JD shop manual for the tractor.

Currently I have the replacement brake linings and the seals for the output shaft from the transmission on hand, not sure what else might be a problem, at least until I get into it.

Thanks,
Howard
