Spencer:

Are you sure the dynamometer didn't slip a decimal point on the test run on the Pacer?

My 173 hp Pacer would mount a formidable defense. It could pull two tanks probably. Waiting on Farmer to corroborate he also saw 173 on the dynamometer. 😂
BTW, after polishing up my Cyrillic typing skills Google translate now says the words at the bottom are “more tanks” which makes better sense I think.

I hope to never need it, but my Belarus made tractors and American made hunting implements could become a formidable defense if needed.

Hey Dennis - Very cool that they were able to get out and I’m sure they are very thankful that you are helping.

To get a little more on topic: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a country being so openly thankful for their farmers during a war.

To back up a little bit: I have a love-hate relationship with Twitter. On one hand it’s a total cesspool of misinformation, propaganda, trolls and just plain jerk wads. But on the other hand as long as you’re following verified accounts it’s a great place to get breaking news. One of the things that has amazed me – and I’ve alluded to it before - is the number of tweets from Ukrainian accounts praising the farmers‘ efforts. An example is a tweet from Ukrainian Armed Forces account a day or two ago saying “National Resistance to victory” and including this picture( Google translate say the words in the bottom are “better tank” and i guess alludes to the tank-jacking the farmers have been doing).

While a tweet isn’t something I would normally include in the email, I make this exception because all the replies, comments and retweets of that tweet all say complimentary things of, and praises for, everything the farmers are doing.

And I thought it was really interesting an Armed Forces account didn’t post a picture of tanks, missiles, rifles, soldiers, or whatever but opted to post a picture of a tractor.

I know we’ve all seen the news, and the horrible pictures that come along with it. Regardless of your politics I think all of us can agree on what’s happening in Ukraine is clearly a humanitarian crisis. Central European countries are overrun with refugees that need humanitarian assistance.

I’m happy to report to one of our long-time members has stepped up to help. Mattias Kessén(Sweden) is involved in helping acclimate some Ukrainian refugees to his area in Sweden. Here a quote from him in some emails we have been exchanging:

“I will leave early tomorrow first to my son's high school for their mini vans and then to Nynäshamn a port some 150 miles away for 70 refugees. The headmaster offered their vehicles this morning it's fantastic to see so many people working together”

Final settlement and logistics are not finalized but it appears Mattiias will be - more likely than not - hosting a family. After much cajoling and begging on my part I finally convinced him to let the list chip in a few bucks towards his own and his town’s and school’s sacrifice to take care of these folks and offset a few expenses.

And I did this for one reason. It’s so hard for us in the US to know who to support with our financial resources in this war. There’s so many aid organizations and go fund me pages and what not. Also, I know some folks have trouble with some of the foreign payment systems. But this is something we can do. I’m not sure that the financial need is all that great in this particular situation but every dollar is a vote of confidence and support. I think that’s probably the greatest gift: That the folks taking care of business in Sweden know we understand their sacrifice(it’s important to note that Kyiv is closer to Mattias than his moose hunting grounds).

If you want to help Mattias and his town, simply send a small gift to his PayPal address:

[ mailto:davidbrown950 at gmail.com | davidbrown950 at gmail.com ]

I’ve already sent a small donation via PayPal and I’ve confirmed that the money safely reached them quickly. He’ll make sure that the funds are used responsibly for offsetting expenses for the folks and institutions hosting and helping these families.
