[AT] chain tangle

I have intentionally tied chains in knots and never had a problem untying.  Sometimes you need to hit knot with a hammer to get some play, but always come apart unless it has been stressed to the point of bending links.

Cut out the knot and repair the chain with a "cold shut link". I always weld those links at the eye and never have had one to fail.

I have a 20 ft 3/8" chain that has a knot in it, I must have lifted
something without seeing the knot because it is tight. Anyone have any
  tips for loosening it?

  Thanks,
  Mike M
