The one for the GM /Bendix couplers Cecil is dealing with is more like the thin plastic ones that Lisle sells, but it’s thin walled steel. The one you have is too thick to fit in them.

The main thing with those fittings is that the teeth like lo dig in from the vibration so trying to release them becomes a chore. There used to be a tool out there similar to what others have posted but it was very thin wall steel that would slip over the tube and allow you to push the teeth out as you pushed the retainer in. The thicker ones generally don’t fit very well.

You might want to check with GM they used to have a 3 day access to the truck service information for about 30 bucks.   https://www.acdelcotds.com/subscriptions#
I have worked on a few bears and kicks over the years but never behind the dash, most of the time it was for wiring problems. Sorry.

I have an air leak under the dash in my C8500 1998 Chevrolet tractor mover.  I have the instrument cluster out and can barely reach to the fittings in the firewall.  Ther eis one line that goes from the parking valve to over the top of the steering column to who knows where.  My leak is somewhere beyond the air valve.  It really hisses.  I have replaced nearly all the fittings last spring on this thing.  I have an alcohol tank ordered.  Those quick connect fittings are a pain in the butt...  Does anyone have any experience with these..  Maybe Steve W..???  The factory service manual is $300+, and I have tried to download 2 times today and it failed.  I will wait until tonight after midnight to download...
