What has more than likely happened is that the cylinder, the cylinder walls
and the rings are scored. If so, you’re not getting proper compression in
order for it to run properly. Running straight gas causes the engine to run
hotter than it’s supposed to, leading to the scoring. You should be able to
remove the muffler and get a look at the piston, the cylinder and the
cylinder walls.
