Jim,

Oil pressure gauge was reading fine. After I restarted it with coolant in it, it ran fine with no knocks. I am wondering of running dry for a few minutes go something a little hot that caused the knock. Also could have been oil passages clogged internally, and then freed itself with a little more running. Or maybe head was hot and some carbon caused detonation. It blew out some black soot chunks for a little bit.
Got idle to slow down a bit, and probably ran it 30 to 40 minutes with no knock.

Thanks,
Dennis

To start it I had to redo timing 180, make a temporary gas tank because original was full of crude from setting too long, and have the starter rebuilt - it had 1 coil shorted. Then just a little tinkering and it started.

Shit it off, put a little water in it, then connected the top fill between the head and the radiator, topped off the coolant, and started it again. Have not heard that knock again. It was not idling down, and running at a faster idle than I like, but for the first run in several years, that is not too bad.
