Wow, that was a long time ago. I recall the first time we went to Portland and met the ATIS crew. I remember Hank Wessel's JD, Spencer's Pony and Steve Sewell's MM. I even got to take the Pony for a spin around the grounds. We went again in 1999 with our son Cyrus when he was around 2. I had a death grip on him as he was a little wild and with the big steam engines running  the Baker Fan I did not want any mishaps. I also remember I brought a pair of AC plows to a member from South Carolina. I can't remember his name. Life got in the way after that and we have lived in Florida, Utah and back in Massachusetts since then. As of February 16th, we will be moving to the Ames, Iowa area for a new job. We have purchased a nice home in Blairsburg, IA. We will be much closer to Portland so I look forward to visiting again in the near future.

The rest of the photo album has plenty of pics of ATIS member's and other's tractors, and the exhibit placards provided by the show have the date, which shows up clearly in at least a few of the images as Aug 26-30, 1998.  This was the year of the Boxes.  It is also the year I flew in and camped (photo evidence of that too).  When I attended in 1996, I drove with Jim and Lisa Thomson. and motel'd.

Here’s one of the pictures he’s forwarded. Two important mentions:

1 - It can’t possibly be me because my hair is not gray like it is now (-;

The link I followed let me to believe it was actually a digital photograph. I know digital photography was in its infancy in the late by 1990s but I think Nikon CoolPix and a couple other cameras were already gaining in popularity.

The only reason I ask is because I was asked an exact year and a digital photo’s meta-data could possibly lead me to that.

The badge tag on the fellow in the foreground is orange. I’ll dig through my Portland memorabilia and see if I can find an orange badge tag in the late 1990s.
