Dennis, Check with Spencer as he had quite a challenge with stuck pistons when That JD 420 I found him was froze solid. It was a lot of creative work for him to finally free it up. He did a great job while having a lot of patience. Joe Hardisky  Ryman Farm Dallas, PA ( expecting 12/20 inches over next few days. My JD 420 crawler/loader ready to go)  :.)

So after I got Cub running yesterday, I thought I would take a little time and look at my little Allis. First I confirmed it is a Model B, and the year is 1940. When I got it, it was locked up, and even the wheels and steering was locked, so I had to winch/skid it on and off of the trailer. A while back I got the wheels loose, and also got the steering loose enough where the front wheels would steer. So today I tore it down a bit pulling the head off. What I found was:
1 - Fuel tank has several holes in 1 corner, at a height about 1” above the bottom. Need to do some patch - these are a bit more than what I would trust a liner to fix. Worst holes are right where the belting is that goes between the tank and the support, so external fixes will mess up the mounting.
2 - Coolant was clean and green, once I got some to come out. Engine block is full of something like rust you can feel with a screwdriver.
3 - Valve spring side of head has a lot of loose rust. Cylinder side showed significant rust on the valves on the 2 center cambers where it looked like water was going through there.
4- Cylinders had some rust, and pistons are locked to the cylinder. Seal is tight enough that it was holding some gasoline I poured into each cylinder (not much, about 1/8” deep). 
5 - Good thing is that no bolts broke or stripped thread when disassembling.

Plan is to continue disassembly of the oil pan, so I can have access to both top and bottom of the piston. Will get and use something other than gasoline to soak the pistons/rings. Will also disassemble the head and check valves.
I will be able to do a little bit when I get to that shop when I continue working on other little things on the cub.
