Greg,

I suspect there is a set of shop manuals somewhere in the shop but I haven’t found them yet. It is a bit of a challenge rummaging through a deceased friends possessions knowing full well if he was still living he would point to them in a NY second. I haven’t figured out his filing system yet. Maybe he didn’t have one but he sure as hell knew where things were. He had 4 full sized double stacked tool cabinets full of tools including those used one or twice in a lifetime. But in the past when I would ask if he had such and such a tool he would go directly to the right cabinet and the right drawer to find it for me. .. I found a bearing removal tool today that amazes me. Just exactly what I needed on a fan shaft assembly off of my 1935 JD B. JD Fan shaft assemblies are really quite complex when they have the friction fan option. Mine had me scratching my head until I realized the PO had left a spring out that cause breakage in another part. The stories these old tractors could tell.

I can’t help with the troubleshooting of your immediate issue, but I’m in the midst of a full hydraulic system R&R on a 960, so I will offer this:

Find a set of shop and parts manuals – they are available in print or .pdf for not a lot of money.

Find an old-timer that knows Ford hydraulic systems.

Be dang sure you don’t remove the four bolts that hold the lift cylinder to the top casting piece before removing the casting piece from the tractor.

Thanks for the suggestions so far but lets get back to the Ford 800. There is no loader of boom attached to the tractor right now. I’ve read somewhere about blowing air pressure into the hole. Need to try that but Santa has gotten in the way right now.
