When White Motor Co. Bought out Oliver and Moline, they sold off a lot
of assets to fund the White Motor Trucks.  Then White and Volvo made
some kind of merger.  If they would have just left them alone, It is
possible that Oliver could have come out on top and really put John
Deere in their place.   Deere had a big construction following, there
were not many construction Olivers and Molines around.  White management
just spent too much Oliver money on White failures.    The same mis
management put Allis Chalmers in the ground.  Allis was one of the
biggest manufacturers around in more than farm and construction
equipment.  Their Scrapers would put Caterpiller in the shade. Some of
th eold timers said they should have licked the doors the day the
Germans came into West Allis Wisconsin.  I agree.  My favorite was
Massey Ferguson.  I grew up with them and really wanted ot go to work
for them after college.  They went belly up due to mismanagement.
