Dana,

 

The head to cylinder block studs(9) are pristine.   The 4 studs in question are the ones that hold the manifold to the head.  Initially I was trying to use them but after a nights sleep I have decided to get them removed and replaced. I have 4 new ones on order.

I guess I would be concerned when you torque the head Down would the old studs give up the ghost.  Especially if they have been in there since 1936.
