Was able to get the 1935 JD B out of storage and since I had the carburetor and magneto removed during the winter storage we just pulled it to new location for the winter. Since we were pull moving anyway I asked my friend to pull me in gear about the distance of the two blocks with the plugs out to get the oil pressure built up for the compression pending compression testing. Then hooked the compassion tester and 7/8" to 154 MM adapter up and had him pull me a 100 feet or so in gear and tested compression on each cylinder. Thew results were not as expected. Got about 62 1/2" psi on the left cylinder and about 55 psi on the right cylinder. I expected a much larger difference between the two. Not sure what it should be but sone reason I expect 70 psi but I don't remember where that came from. But the 7 1/2psi difference by itself tell me I need to tear into this tractor., I don't think. Tomorrow I can do the the manifold air pressure test. If I can complete that. He results of that test will determine what I test next,

I will be very interested in what the 1958 JD 520 sells for. The 1958 520 with roll-o-matic front end is my favorite tractor of all. Has the last and final engine version, has all the bells and whistles and is relatively light and nimble. Some like to add a wide front end but IMHO it makes a light and nimble tractor a clumsy one. However, right behind it and is a very close competitor for the most favorite is the 1968 JD 720 Diesel. The 1958 JD 720D is just the opposite of the 520. The 1968 720D is a heavy duty powerful but very economical tractor again with the last and final version of the engine, has all the bells and whistles and is an outright brute. Polar opposites but each has a place on the farm. On our farm in NW Iowa the 520 would have been the yard tractor and used for mowing and raking hay. The 720 would have done all the hard work in the field. Why do I like the 58 series of 20 Series tractors? They are the last of the true Two Cylinder tractors. The 30 Series tractors sold in 1959 and 1960 were the last two cylinders but the only reason they even existed is because the New Generation tractors were going to be two years later than planned. So JD and Dreyfus did a quick design based on the 20 Series but made only cosmetic changes that were heavily influenced by the new design coming out with the NG tractors and gave JD a chance to test reaction to some of the cosmetic features of the New Generation tractors. So for us Two Cylinder purists the 30 series were kind of 90% traditional design with 10% new design. However today, the 30 Series remain the most highly desired two Cylinder tractors since they were the last ones. The 530 being a huge favorite. But there are many of us who prefer the 20 Series. I spent so many hours and years looking down the old traditional hood design that the 30 hood design is just a bit foreign to me. Different strokes for different folks. The @#$%^& hoods drive me nuts when it comes to painting. I can live with a few warts on my paint jobs around the tractor but I have a fetish about being able to sit on the seat and look down that long hood and not see any painting or metal defects. Just a thing with me. Due to it I hate painting because I have so much trouble doing a good enough job. One of my serious weaknesses. So most of my tractors are in their original clothes.

I checked several other pdf files on my system and they all worked ok. I don't know what the issue is.
