[AT] driver convenience systems

I had the same problem with my 2012 Cruz. The trunk opened with a single
hit. You could be standing around at a distance with the fob in your pocket
and the trunk pops open. I went back to the dealer and had them install a
relay that required two hits within a very short time. That took care of it
as the likelihood of hitting the button twice quickly is very remote. The
drawback is that the release button on the truck lid also has to be hit
twice as it goes through the same relay. The dealer had no idea what I was
talking about on the double hit relay. I had to bring them the relay part
number and told them to search the service bulletins for that number.

If the buttons were recessed deeply into the fob, it would be a less likely
event. I have heard of people opening up their fobs and adding a small
o-ring under the sensitive buttons so they would push a lot harder.

The only real convenience our 2017 Grand Caravan has is the electric
remote controlled side doors and the rear liftgate. you can open them
with the key fob that also can remotely start it. The real problem is
that it is too sensitive. It takes 2 pushes of the button to operate
the features, but they will work inside a building 500 ft away. Right
after we got it, I was inside a building and my wife was sitting in the
car at the end of the parking lot.

Suddenly the rear gate opened........ I have not carried the fob
since. I got a couple of RFID pouches to carry them in but they are too
bulky to fit in pockets. You can never be sure if the doors will stay
locked. There should be some way to turn off the key fob......
