[AT] Not receiving one’s posts

This is a public service announcement.

A very common complaint I get from list members is that they do not receive a copy of the message they post.

This actually seems to happen for number of reasons, but the most common one is your email provider is trying to be smarter than it needs to be. Gmail in particular does this and I included a link at the end of the message that explains it a little better than I can.

However for other email providers it does not seem to be so cut and dried. However, I do suspect that in many, if not most, cases the reason is probably identical.

Anyways I post this from time to time when I start getting a flurry of inquiries from folks.
