39 years ago I attended a PLC training class with a Mr. Slater. Sam Slater was an ancestor of his. I have been to Slater's Mill in Rhode Island.

Sam Slater was an illegal emigrant but legal immigrant. The former US machine tool industry was a spinoff of Sam's technology transfer to the US. Tractors could not have been manufactured without machine tools.
