I rode out Ike in Houston Tx.  I live in a wooded area and live in a corner house.  I was lucky no damage to my property. But two houses across the street had big pine trees across them.
I happened to be one of the only neighbors that had a working chain saw. I spent three days cutting out sections of pine trees and pulling them to the side of the road.  Could not get out for two days.  The third day cars could get into most of the neighborhood.  I have about 25 big trees on my small property so I was very lucky.
On the forth day We cleaned up my property. My wife My self and two exchange students from Germany and Georgia. I got about 20 pick up loads of limbs and pine pine cones put out for the city to pickup.
Without power for about three weeks.  I ran a generator a few hours a day to keep the freezers cold.  Burnt about 60 gallons of gas.  Thank God for the Chevy Suburban in the drive way with 40 gallons of gas.  Plus my storm stash we were able to get by before they got the gas stations operational.
It is quite an ordeal and we had no real damage.

There is an army getting ready to go east to help with clearing the roads and doing repairs.  But it is going to take a while.

It's pretty bad in my area so much so that trees and power lines are across the roads with so much debris you can't walk let alone drive  .

Just watched a news report on hurricane damage.  They were in Sulfur LA.  Lots of trees and power lines down.  Some buildings blown apart.

Lot of cleanup and reconstruction going to be needed. Hope there is not too much damage to Bo's place.

Hopefully there are a lot more who are as fortunate as you. Hate to see anybody lose everything or wind up with major damage to their possessions. I can’t imagine what going through insurance and federal assistance must be when an entire area gets hit, has to be a major headache.

Take care and stay safe.

Just a quick update on Sulphur Louisiana from Slidell Louisiana which is
230 miles away  . My brother said my house and shop is still intact with
minimum damage as for the best that he can see  . There is so much debris
that  he cannot walk around in the yard  . Light poles and wires and limbs
makes it impossible to walk anywhere  . It seems like I am doing better
than most within miles of where I live  . I will post more when possible
.I LOVE THE ANTIQUE TRACTOR GUYS and what they mean to me .
