Tebet,

Should have also mentioned that, depending on how much water there was, and for how long, you may want to open the unit and look for rust.

Steve,

Whatever water may still be in the unit will consist of small puddles or drops here and there. You can fill the unit up about half way and exercise it. This should flush out any water still in the unit. Let sit for an hour or so. Drain and repeat if necessary. Watch the fluid as it drains out for signs of water, that will give you an indication of how much water was still in the unit and how much might remain. When you’re happy with the way the fluid looks when draining, you’re done. Other than that you would have to open the unit and spray with something like WD40 and use paper towels to dry everything internally.

Gentlemen, a hydraulic question.

We had to have new hydraulic hoses made for our 6' brushhog, and, when swapping them out, we discovered the oil in the PowrTrol on the '51 A had become contaminated with water.

Can anyone suggest a practical and non-harmful way to purge the system of the contaminated oil? We got a lot out when the old hoses came off, and I pushed as much as I could out of the cylinder, and I drained as much as I could out of the PowrTrol unit at the lower plug. I am stymied on doing a complete purge, however.

Thanks for any suggestions!
