A group flew a C47 out of Paso Robles to Normandy for the D-Day activities. I believe they joined the group mentioned in Grant's article. Left from the War Birds Museum at the Paso Robles Airport. A friend who flies everything from Messerschmitt's to P51s and B25s tried to get me to go. He didn't. Said he couldn't take the noise for that long. I don't have the time or funds, or hearing. Better men than I suited for such a journey.

I don't usually post an off-topic item, but this one just seemed like it would resonate with our list. Our farm and my house are both about two miles from our local airport where quite a few WWII airplanes are located and one of our local businessmen has a MIG jet fighter from the early 1950s. I read this article and wanted to share it with the list. I think it reminds people of why we need "things" to remind us of the important parts of our past....
