I asked my Dad for a tractor umbrella Only One time. Dad`s response. Only city people need umbrellas. We are outside all year. Our skin is used to it. End of discussion.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy Tablet

I store the tractor in a dark shed with an opening to the north and in the shadows of a bunch of trees. I had to wait until I got it out to get a picture:Spencer YostOn Jun 3, 2019, at 11:43 AM, Phil Auten <pga2 at basicisp.net> wrote:
I bought an umbrella for my Farmall M several years ago and it
provides nice shade. The negatives of noise and interference from
trees didn't impact me much, but I haven't used it to mow pasture
since I have leased them for the last several years.

My Dad took off the buggy top from our MF50Diesel because it
would just hold the dust under it. Our Ford 5000 had a roll
bar, first tractor to have one. We welded a frame on the front
of it and put a steel top on it sloped to the back. It works
pretty good for the hottest part of the day. It is high enough
to let the dust blow away and it still provides shade. It is
high enough that you can still stand up...

As a youngster, I wanted
an umbrella for the tractor. My dad said no
and stated all the reasons against it that you just gave. I
came back
with the fact that the neighbor had one and it was sort of
cool under it
when cultivating with his tractor. The answer was, "he has
no trees on
his farm except in the grove and he doesn't cultivate that."

Christmas for the Ford? I have never used it enough to have
a review until this spring. I got a Femco and it is
well-made. I’m very happy with the overall quality of the
product itself. However, I am not too happy with the general
idea of an umbrella, at least around here. Not stable in a
very stiff wind(moves out of adjustment and flops all the
way back), nor is it all that awesome for mowing when you
are at the edge of fields. The tree branches simply get into
it too bad. Plus it tends to funnel the sound of tractor
so everything is a tad louder.

is nice mowing pastures as it does provide the shade. But
I’m near too many woodland edges during other chores and
drive along too many tree-lined tractor trails between
fields and buildings to make this very practical.

a big impediment along the trees. So it isn’t like I didn’t
consider it when I purchased it; I just didn’t think it
would be a big deal. I was wrong.

harmonious relationship with it. Time will tell.
