[AT] When did tractor pulls become prevalent?

The Arcola National Truck & Tractor Pull in Arcola, Indiana began tractor
pulls as a festival event in 1954, built a permanent clay track in 1977,
and has been a part of the national tractor pulling circuit ever since.  I
don't know how many entries they have, but it takes 3 nights to run them
all.
