On some fifties era Caterillar D2 and D4s, the lower links of the toolbars were outside the tracks. The tool bar and the cylinder to raise it do bear some resemblance to three point hitch.

Ferndale, Michigan, is a suburb that shares a boundary with Detroit. It is on the Dream Cruise route. That MM UDLX would look right at home on the cruise.
