So far it has been the deer hitting me, not the other way around. About
40 years ago a buck came up out of the highway ditch not far ahead. I
left a bit of rubber on the pavement and the buck bounced his head off
the right front fender of the old IH pickup. No harm done and the truck
still looks good.

Last fall cruising home on the grid at night and this crazed deer comes
tearing up the steep bank of the ditch (and that is a steep climb) and
launches itself at the side of my Chevy Blazer making a terrible bang
scaring me half to death. I didn't stop til I got to the yard to examine
the vehicle. Could not find any damage, just a scuff mark in the dried
mud on the rear driver side door. Its like they are playing chicken. Any
animal with half a brain might think "run away from the noisy fast
moving bright lights coming at me". But no, not the white tail deer.
They are dead set on going straight on course with no diversions for
anything.
