Not so Jack. I think Edsel was Henry's only son. Edsel himself may have had 2.

Ford Motor had Carroll Shelby handling negotiations with Ferrari for a joint racing venture. The insults came when Ferrari did not accept the offer. Hank the Deuce was Edsel Ford’s only son, Henry’s grandson. With Ferrari’s refusal. Shelby started his own Ford backed racing team. Ford Motor bureaucrats interfered negatively in the team.

The movie portrays the Deuce using his own epithets back at Enzo, hard for Lee Iacocca to take.

Henry Ford was able to see the advantages of the Ferguson System and ignored the "not invented here" factions at Ford. I understand Henry had a number of politically incorrect then and more so now social opinions.

It is possible that Hank the Deuce's wife played a role in the Ford/Ferguson split.

Jason (dejoodster at gmail.com); That's probably not a bad thing.  Henry was a difficult, bitter person to say the least. How he treated his only son was appalling.

<snip> As Enzo Ferrari said, Hank the Deuce was not Henry Ford.
