[AT] How had the group changed

I have been on the group probably close to 25 years, I don't remember how
long. The server was hosted at the University at the time. There were kind
of two factions as I remember the antique engine group and the tractor guys.
Wife and I took a trip across the country in 1999 in our motorhome a 1970
Dodge Travco and I put out feelers for assistance in case we needed it,
fortunately we had no issues I couldn't fix along the way. But I sure
appreciated the knowledge that help was available if needed.
I have learned a lot just sitting in the shadows. Many members have passed
over the years. I remember the box that was passed across the country. I
remember a few years of the auction of the Blue Handled Fence Pliers and
being passed around. I remember the charity auctions. I purchased a
Minneapolis Moline UB tractor on propane on an charity auction and a member
trucked it to California and John brought it to Portland Oregon for me. I
borrowed a truck and trailer from a friend and drove from Whidbey Island to
Portland, Oregon to transfer from John's trailer to mine to bring it home.
I still have the tractor and it runs.
I remember some feuds and disagreements, some in jest and some not so.
Disputes about Magnet paints, Evil Dave killing Maytags, Someone who got
kicked off the list and trying to rejoin as different person but couldn't
keep his fingers off the keyboard and couldn't disguise his opinions.

I appreciate Spencer and him keeping the list going providing the servers
necessary and the costs associated with it. Some of the past members and the
beautiful work they did on some of their creations. I appreciate the work
done by members done for the Portland Indiana show in the name of ATIS even
though I have never been to it.

I remember some of the swag of the early years I still have a pin on one of
my hats.

It has been a very entertaining time and I thank all of you.

How has this group changed in that time?

Bruce Fallon Langley, WA 98260 AT List Member (bfallon at whidbey.com); I
remember that trip being followed on here.

Cecil Bearden AT list member, Oklahoma farmer, and Professional Engineer
(crbearden at copper.net); I drove a fire truck from New Jersey to OKlahoma
about 15 years ago. It had plugs all over the door frames and cab and
fender dead spots where they had pumped a product called Ziebart to prevent
rust. It seems to have worked. The only rust spot is where my boot heel
set on the bare floor board after I had been in and out of the truck and on
the pavement. We were in one of the worst snowstorms in PA in 20 years...
