You certainly could not fit half-tracks on them.
Did you pull a trailing low with your Scout?
The article mentions the rear differential overheating.

Having plowed gardens with my Scout, I know it takes a half acre to get turned around, visibility of the implement is limited, and row crop work would be out of the question. It takes more than traction. There was a reason why the Farmall Regular changed the face of farming.
