Roger,

After looking at the picture, I think you should be happy how it connects. The tubes are bronzed or silver soldered into the adapter block. If the tube is cracked you should be able to remove the block, clean thoroughly, and them bronze or solder the crack.
Welding is probably too “hot” and might be very difficult to do.
It might be possible to remove the tube and have another tube inserted with a fitting that would allow you to convert to hoses, but that might be a lot more work.
