> In the Navy we would have to clean the steel decks for inspections . Someone would go down to the mess decks and get a couple packs of bug juice(kool aid) and bring it back . Mix with water and mop the deck then let sit for awhile . Come back with a buffer and scotchbrite pad and buff them real good . Rinse with clean water then mop on a coat of water soluable oil to keep them from rusting . Make sure it was dry before trying to walk on it . Active indegredial in bug juice was citric acid ,also in lemon juice . You can buy it straight as a powder. That would eliminate the sugars in lemon juice . Although someone suggested vinegar which is acetic acid which works on sheet metal real well at removing rust . Buy the agricurtural grade in 10 - 30 % instead of vinegars 5% and you have a very strong rust removal tool. To neutralize just rinse with water ,diluted itis nt harmful to vegeatation and breaks down naturally and is harmless . But straight up is a good weed killer at 10-30 % Ivan
