1)  Motorcycle chain lube.  I prefer the "Bel-Ray" brand.  It is an aerosol
that goes on, penetrates, and dries to a whitish waxy film that is
specifically designed not to attract dust and dirt.

2)  I use an unlit propane cylinder, both looking for intake leaks as well
as straight into the air intake to encourage a reluctant engine straight.
