Steve,  I understand but this old farm boy who was trained by my father to do many farmer expediency work arounds to solve an immediate problem wasn't giving much thought to the electrical code. I WAS concerned about safety but not about passing a test. 😊

I think Don might be all set... we exchanged some private email on this subject a couple days ago.  Regarding your suggestion Dean, that is possible, but, the breaker must be rated to accept two wires.  I'll try to attach a photo of such a breaker but the format is .PNG, not sure if
