I too am sad to hear of "Evil Dave"'s passing. He's always been an
interesting character and as many have said, his views were different than
mine. I'm sure sometimes it was stirring the pot and generating discussions
which he's known for. In a world of "black and white" I feel the world lost
a colorful mind that appreciated spirited discourse. As an educator I'm
sure he helped create more of the same in all of us. We're richer for the
experience and I hope it guides us to continue open and candid
conversations with folks of differing opinions. While I've never actually
met him face to face he's been a fixture here since I've been aboard this
list and I appreciate his insight.

One of the many memorable things about Dave is hearing stories about his
engines. While I'm not on the engine list, it's bled onto the FATG list a
few times... and I had to check out the pictures of his Maytag with a
hatchet. Apparently it had stirred up some strong emotions at some shows in
the past... and yes, it does have shock value. It's one of those things
that seems to typify him. I'll picture that whenever I remember him.

Vaya con dios, Dave
